THE NEXT ENGLAND MANAGER?

This question is regularly asked after a run of poor results & displays, threat of not qualifying & dissapointing displays at major tournaments.

Should the manager be made scapegoat, are the players motivated enough, or are the England fans too demanding & fickle?

FASelect has the solution.

Our concept has already been presented to the English FA. An exciting, bold, innovative & controversial vision of International football moving into a new era.

We want to emphasis that this project is not designed to undermine or replace the vital role the England coach has. While it shifts a key element from the coaches area of responsibility & domain it releases the sole burden of the National side from one mans shoulders.

ENGLAND FANS PICK THE TEAM

The project works around the idea of a new structure with the starting selection of the National team decided by the FANS from a selected squad provided by a team from the FA. All other areas of responsibility remain as they are in the FA with an example of the roles below:

Title Responsibilties Examples
Football Director Press Dealings, Squad Selection, Youth Development Trevor Brooking
Coach Squad Selection, Training, Tactics, Half Time changes Stuart Pearce, Peter Taylor, Alan Shearer, David Beckham

WHY?

When appointing a manager, traditionally England have always looked for numerous qualities in candidates including tactical skills, a proven track record, player motivation, the ability to handle the media, to name but a few.

The difficulty is finding one individual to fill all these roles? Why not specialise in each responsibilty & let the fans pick the starting eleven?

A democratic group decision always betters an individuals choice, eliminating:

Personal preference
Pressure from the accountables
Fear of public humiliation
Favouritism
The burden of responsibilty in the teams failure

Supporters are the most important factor - their primary concern is with the team's performance on the pitch.

Implementing such a system would also generate massive financial rewards for the Football Association, money which can be ploughed back into grass roots football. Apart from the huge marketing & sponsorship offshoots, the example below shows the revenue that can be made from membership fees of ₤50:
